Pig At Play

Today's book is Pig At Play.  My kids like this book because the story is great, the pictures are fun, and it's an easy reader, one of the first Sweet Pea was able to read!
Basketball is my sport.  They say I am to fat and short.

But I don't care.  I want to play.  I practice shooting every day.

This is a great story about how if you believe in yourself, work hard, and ignore the people who might try to put you down, you can reach your goal!  Pig isn't able to dunk the ball, he's too short, but he practices shooting three's and learns to dribble through his knees!  He and his Skunk try out for the team, Skunk makes it, but Pig doesn't.

Pig doesn't give up though, he wants to play basketball!  So he trains hard, and the coach notices.  His work pays off and he makes the team!

We're down by ten.  It's second half.  Coach puts me in.  The others laugh.

They think they're tough.  They don't scare me.  I steal the ball.  I sink a three!

Hooray for Pig! Now I am hot. I dribble down.

I make the shot!

I cannot miss! We win the game! Basketball Pig is my name!

This is a great book!

I love that you blog about books. I have a hard time picking out new ones. It's great to have suggestions. This one has a good message.
